Lander University

Overview

Lander University is a public, co-educational, four-year university in Greenwood, South Carolina, founded in 1872. It offers over 60 areas of study, including liberal arts, sciences, nursing, education, and business. The university is known for its small class sizes and NCAA Division II athletics.

My Role

Lander University employed me with the role of a graphic designer. I create graphics and promotional materials for the school to use to market events and increase the amount of new students that decide to enroll with Lander. At Lander, there is no print job or project we can't help with, in fact, I was tasked with making Soap-box cars and cornhole boards to be used during homecoming. We completed projects using methods of problem solving and a multitude of machines. The machines I managed and would often use everyday were the Ricoh Pro C2700s and booklet maker, a Duplo 318, Xante Impress, Guillotine cutter, and an Epson large format printer.

Impact

‍My role working for Lander has been more impactful to the faculty and staff than to me as an individual, in which I'm happy for. However, I wouldn't say I have really learned any new software during my time with Lander and the equipment is also somewhat outdated.

I have created several projects for my portfolio and built relationships with everyone and they often rely on me with their day-to-day print materials and design projects. Lander has at least furthered my experience with working professionally as a designer and taught me new methods on how to produce high quality products.
